My world outside my home revolves around paper.
Making it.
Folding it.
Tearing it.
Sewing it.
Binding it.
I am currently juggling many projects at once. I am teaching a workshop in Japanese paper making on Saturday with my friend and mentor, Sara Gilfert, at her studio and gallery Paper Circle where I am an artist intern. I have origami centerpieces to create for a party following week. I have an open house where I will sell some journals at the end of the month. Another paper making workshop after that. And a children's summer art program that starts in June to finish preparing for. How did I get so lucky to be able to spend my days doing what I love? I won't ask. I'm just going to create and enjoy!
I have been doing a lot of book binding lately. Two bindings which I absolutely love are the one needle Coptic stitch and the Italian longstitch. The latter I was lucky enough to learn from Eileen Wallace of Mile Wide Press. If you ever have a chance to take a workshop with her, I would strongly recommend it!
